Sugaring & Waxing Services - Soft, smooth and clean skin all year round! Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)?

How long does my hair need to be before a wax?
Bodily hair should be at least ¼” in length or is growing along the surface of your skin. For hair removal on the face, hair should be at least 1/8”.

If your hair is longer than 1”, we advise you carefully trim it down to 1”. Our therapists will be happy to provide this service for a small additional charge of $5.

Should I shower before my appointment?
We advise that you shower before your appointment. If you exercise prior to the appointment, you should allow at least 30 minutes for your skin to cool down. We do provide cleansing wipes should you desire to use them!

What type of wax do you use?

We use Cirepil by Perron Rigot.Cirépil by Perron Rigot believes “It’s not just about what we remove. It is about what we leave behind healthy skin!” Unlike traditional methods of waxing, Cirépil wax sticks to the hair rather than the skin, reducing the pain of waxing by 50%!

Does wax leave the skin feeling sticky?

Following your hair removal, we will apply Satin Smooth Satin Release to your skin. This combination of sunflower oil, wheat germ and almond oil nourishes and cleanses the skin of any wax residue.

Post Waxing Care

Avoid touching your freshly waxed skin

Following hair removal, your pores open and more exposed to bacteria that is transmitted from your fingers making you more susceptible to infection. Due to the increased risk of infection, it is also recommended that you refrain from sexual activity for at least 24 hours.

Exfoliate

The days following your wax, you may notice a small buildup of dead skin. To prevent this, gently exfoliating your skin with cleansers that include salicylic acid. Flawless by Whish is a great post treatment to exfoliate and sooth the skin!

Avoid Exercise and Salt Water

Salt water or even salt in your perspiration can cause discomfort or irritation. So too can friction, particularly in the groin area. We recommend light exercise on the day of and day following hair removal in the groin area!

Resist the urge to pick or touch impurities that may arise

If impurities appear on your skin, avoid touching them as you may spread bacteria. We recommend you apply a small amount of tea-tree oil or witch hazel to the spot. Feel free to consult us in the unlikely instance that this occurs!

Moisturize

In order to encourage healthy regrowth and soft skin, keep your skin moisturized. Whish has a great variety of products such as Flawless which we highly recommend!

Avoid Powder

Due to the overexposed pores, we discourage you to apply powder directly after your hair removal. This will reduce the chance that your pores will become clogged and harm the regrowth of the hair follicle. Allow at least 24 hours before applying powder.

Finipil

Finipil is a scientifically approved, patented, FDA registered OTC antiseptic made by Equibal Labs which is applied on clients after and in between hair removal services. This antiseptic cream destroys 99.999% of bacteria and cools and soothes the skin while protecting the empty hair follicle. Finipil does NOT clog pores, it actually cleans while moisturizing them.

Other Information

First time waxing?
If you have been shaving for a prolonged period of time, your skin may not feel as smooth as you expect the first time around. Every time you shave, you exfoliate, hence why your skin may be sensitive and rough. It will take a few wax treatments to normalize the hair growth and with our help, you will be on the right track to long-lasting, smooth, hair-free skin!

In-grown hairs
Frequently caused from shaving, in-grown hairs grow as a result of cutting the hair too close to the skin. This disrupts the healthy re-growth of the hair, causing it to grow into the side of the hair follicle and can often form pustules. This is why waxing is a great option for hair removal! The hair is completely removed from the hair follicle allowing it to grow freely and naturally out of the skin’s surface.
